School History

Hartmannganj mission which was established in 1968, in Bahmalpur, Phaphamau had been engaged in the field of social work and health and hygiene to help the poor of Bahmalpur and surrounding villages. To add to its activities of helping the poor a primary School in Hindi medium with the name Hartmann Primary School was established by late Rev. Philip Noronha in 1975, which was governed by the Diocese of Allahabad education society.

The School catered to the educational needs of the poor in the Trans - Ganga area. The School obtained recognition from U.P. board in July 1986. The school was closed in the year 2007 for some unavoidable reasons. But Most Rev. Isidore Fernandes, then Bishop of Allahabad, with a desire to continue to help the poor children of the area in education decided to re-establish the school.

At his guidance in the year 2010 Rev. Fr. George Madathakudiyil opened an English medium school with the name 'Bishop Hartmann Academy', which has now reached upto Class 8th. The school was recognized by UP Board, B.S.A , Prayagraj in July 2015.

As a memorial of the Golden Jubilee of Hartmannganj Mission a dream project of a new building for Bishop Hartmann Academy was envisaged by Most. ReV. Dr. Raphy Manjaly and after completion of the same was blessed by him on 26th Nov. 2018. The School is reputed for its educational service in the area and is continually on the path of progress bring a beacon of light for the people around.
